Christine Devane is a lifelong animal lover, former second-grade teacher, and mom of three who writes with one goal in mind: helping children grow up kind, confident, and safe—especially around animals. As both a mom and a dog mom, Christine understands firsthand how important it is to teach children how to interact safely with pets while still nurturing their natural love for animals.
Her newest release, Pet Safety with Lola & Sophie, was inspired by real-life experiences raising three young children alongside her beloved rescue dog, Sophie. Through playful storytelling and familiar characters, Christine hopes this book helps families prevent common accidents between kids and pets, while also encouraging empathy, respect, and kindness toward animals. It's a story with heart, purpose, and an important message for every household with children and pets.
Christine is also the author of Elephant Beach, inspired by her childhood and written to help shy children feel seen, and Lola & Sophie's ABC Adventure, a fun introduction to the alphabet featuring her two dogs, Sophie and Lola, with a focus on pet adoption. Her books have received multiple honors, including the Mom's Choice Awards, a Literary Titan Book Award, and the Golden Wizard Book Awards.
A former volunteer with the MSPCA Boston, Christine continues to advocate for animals through her writing and community work. She lives with her husband John and their three children Joey, Nick, and Adeline along with Sophie, who remains at the heart of both their family and Christine's stories.
