There are moments in life that remind you exactly why you do what you do — and my visit to The Reynolds Learning Center was one of those moments.

I had the incredible honor of sitting down with Peter H. Reynolds — the beloved author and illustrator behind The Dot, Ish, Sky Color, and so many other books that have touched the hearts of children and families around the world. If you've ever read one of his books, you already know the warmth and encouragement that radiates from every page. Meeting him in person? Even better.

A Warm Welcome

From the moment I arrived at The Reynolds Learning Center, I felt at home. The space itself is a reflection of Peter's spirit — creative, colorful, and full of possibility. It's the kind of place that makes you want to pick up a pencil and start making something.

Peter was gracious, genuine, and incredibly generous with his time. We talked about storytelling, the power of picture books, and what it means to create books that truly connect with young readers. He listened as much as he shared, and that made all the difference.

Talking About My Books

I had the chance to share my own work with Peter, including "Elephant Beach," "Lola & Sophie's ABC Adventure," and "Pet Safety with Lola & Sophie" and discuss the mission behind them: helping families talk about pet safety, responsibility, and the bond between children and animals in a fun, accessible way.

Peter's enthusiasm was infectious. He asked thoughtful questions and offered encouragement that I'll carry with me for a long time. Hearing someone of his caliber affirm the importance of the stories I'm telling meant the world to me.

Dreaming Big Together

We also talked strategy — how to get books into the hands of the children and families who need them most. From school visits and library partnerships to community events and author appearances, Peter reinforced what I already believe: showing up matters. Connecting with readers in person, building relationships with educators and librarians, and staying true to your message are the building blocks of a lasting author career.

It was a conversation full of ideas, inspiration, and a shared belief that children's books have the power to change lives.

Gratitude

I left The Reynolds Learning Center feeling energized and more committed than ever to my work. A huge thank you to Peter Reynolds for his kindness, his time, and his belief in the magic of storytelling.

And to everyone who has supported my journey as an author — thank you. Moments like this remind me that we're all in this together, one story at a time. 📚✨

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Why do we use it? It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
