Story Time at Tender Learning Center: Pet Safety, Treats & Lots of Questions!
What a wonderful morning it was visiting the pre-k class at Tender Learning Center in Wilmington! I had the joy of reading to my son Nick's class, and from the moment I opened the book, the room was buzzing with energy.
The children were absolutely engaged — hands shooting up, eyes wide, and so many great questions! It was one of those visits where you can truly feel the curiosity in the room. The kids were eager to share their own pet stories, and hearing about their furry (and not-so-furry!) friends made the experience even more special.
We had a wonderful discussion about safe pet treats — what our animal friends can and can't enjoy — and the class was full of thoughtful ideas and observations. It's always amazing to see how much young children already know and care about the animals in their lives.
One important topic that came up was keeping pets safe in the summer heat. We talked about why it's too hot outside for dogs to ride in the car during warm weather — even a short trip can be dangerous for our pups when temperatures rise. The kids took that message to heart, and I hope they'll share it with their families too!
Thank you so much to the teachers and staff at Tender Learning Center for welcoming me so warmly, and to Nick's class for being such enthusiastic readers and animal lovers. Visits like this are exactly why I love what I do. 🐾
